· Gwynedd Square CEO Morris Kaplan, Esq., NHA, was selected by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services to be on their expert panel for a national webcast on improving care for residents with dementia and eliminating inappropriate antipsychotic drug use in nursing home residents. The webcast included top CMS leadership and was directed to all state and federal nursing home regulators, inspectors, providers and consumers. Mr. Kaplan continues on CMS special panels for this national intiative.

· Recognized by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority for achieving especially low rates of infection. The Authority came to Gwynedd Square and studied our practices and procedures to identify best practices and develop ways to assist facilities with high infection rates to improve.

· Recognized by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority for achieving exceptionally high rates of vaccination. The Authority came to Gwynedd Square and studied our practices and procedures to indentify best practices and develop ways to assist other nursing facilities to increase their vaccination rates.
2002
· Designated by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as a "Model of Best Practices" in long term care, one of only 10 out of over 700 nursing homes in PA to earn this designation.

· Awarded the Pennsylvania Governor's Gold & Silver Award Finalist for Quality of Life in Long Term Care by the PA Secretary of Aging.

1993
· Honored by the national Alzheimer's Association as a "Model Program for Alzheimer's Care", one of only ten nursing homes in the country to receive that honor.
Gwynedd Square has been selected as a study site for best practice research by the Office of Inspector General, U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services, CMS, and other government agencies. Dates and more information can be provided upon request.
